Residential area

The Nordic Folk Academy has 30 single rooms, with shower, lavatory and kitchenette. There is also a common TV room and a dining room with cooking facilities. The rooms provide a splendid view the harbour of Göteborg!

Nya Varvet (The New Wharf)

Göteborg is located at the heart of Sweden's beautiful west coast and is characterised by its large sea port, fascinating archipelago and lovely parks. You find the Nordic Folk Academy (NFA) just where the Göta River runs into the sea. The area is called Nya Varvet, it is unique and noted for its beautiful scenery, a place with old houses and an atmosphere to match. The Nordic Folk Academy is only a tine distance away from a small yachting harbour and very close to the islands and islets in the Göteborg archipelago. In your free time you can pack a picnic basket and take a ferry boat to one of the islands in the archipelago or go to one of Göteborg's many sea-food restaurants and enjoy the catch of the day! If you follow the path along the sea-front you pass a harbour for old ships and come to the cultural heritage centre called Klippan (The Cliff). The tramline number 4 stops just at Nya Varvet within a walking distance of approximately 20 minutes from NFA.
