KTOL (Kansalais- ja työväenopistojen liitto KTOL - Medborgar- och arbetarinstituonernas förbund MAIF r.y) acts as an umbrella organisation for the total amount of 274 adult education centres in Finland.
In addition to proposal making the association negotiates with decision-makers in order to improve facilities for adult education and learning. KTOL also carries out training programmes and projects for the staff of adult education centres. It publishes a periodical, AIKUISKOULUTUKSEN MAAILMA (the World of Adult Education), produces teaching material, provides information on adult education to its members and promotes international relations.
